Nestled within the vibrant Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a hidden gem, Sebastian’s Bistro. The name may suggest it’s a small bistro/cafe, or quick service type restaurant, but it’s a beautifully decorated table service, inspired by Sebastian from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.” Disney describes Sebastian’s Bistro- “Transport your taste buds to “island time” with delightful family-style dishes infused with rich Latin and Caribbean flavors.”

The restaurant is accessible via the Skyliner, or by bus or car.

Sebastian’s Bistro offers an inviting atmosphere with a bright ambiance and is really beautiful and elegant, yet also very welcoming to the entire family. You’ll also see sightings of Sebastian throughout the restaurant.

Sebastian’s is a hidden gem, but reservations are recommended and available 60 days in advance. It’s becoming more popular and was quite busy on our recent visit. You may get lucky and see something pop up for the day of, so always check.

The meal is served family-style, where you’ll choose one entree- either the Taste of the Caribbean or the Harvest of the Caribbean (plant-based). If you have a mix of diners, you’re welcome to choose one of each. The meal consists of rolls, salad, entree, sides, and dessert. Though they don’t have a specific kid’s menu, there are so many options brought to the table that kids should be able to find some things to enjoy.

As with any Disney restaurant, they can accommodate any allergy and offer a special allergy menu. Your server will ask about allergies and will likely have the chef come and speak to you should you need any additional information.

Sebastian Island Paradise

Sebastian’s offers a large beer and wine menu, along with specialty cocktails and Caribbean rums, as well as non-alcoholic drinks, including the famous Sebastian Island Paradise (frozen POG juice- passionfruit, orange, and guava).

Now, let’s get into the food!

There’s even a hidden Mickey Cheddar biscuit.

BREAD SERVICE

Your meal starts with Buttery House-baked Pull-apart Rolls, served with Guava Butter and Caramelized Onion Jam. These are so delicious, and we had a hard time not filling up on them. The onion jam is very strong, so only a few of us liked it.

THE SPICE NECKLACE SALAD

Next arrives the beautiful Spice Necklace Salad– mixed greens and kale with spiced candied pumpkin seeds, tropical fruit, and radish with Key Lime dressing. This was light and fresh, and the perfect start to the meal.

THE TASTE OF THE CARIBBEAN (Entree)

The entree was presented to us with plenty of options- oven-roasted citrus chicken, slow-cooked Mojo pork with mango sambal, grilled chili-rubbed beef with Mojito relish, and sustainable baked fish with Veracruz sauce.

Nearly everything was delicious, with us all agreeing that the mojo pork was the real star. The fish was lacking flavor and was just not very good at all, and I love seafood, so that speaks volumes. There were others at our table who did enjoy it though. Other than the fish, everything was very tasty. You are also able to ask for more of anything you’d like.

ENTREE SIDES

Along with the entree, they brought sides of Cilantro Rice and Beans, roasted seasonal vegetables, and candied plantains. Again, all of the sides were very good, with the Cilantro Rice being the favorite at our table.

ENHANCEMENTS

We also added an order of Fried Coconut Shrimp (for $10), and it was the best Coconut Shrimp we’ve had. I would definitely recommend this addition.

HOUSE-MADE COCONUT-PINEAPPLE BREAD PUDDING

We had heard all about this bread pudding, and how it rivaled the ‘Ohana bread pudding. The warm, caramel sauce was poured on it as it was presented to the table, and it also had a scoop of ice cream. Our server recommended more caramel sauce and ice cream, and by this point, we knew to trust anything he recommended. This is absolutely one of the best desserts on Disney property!

FINAL THOUGHTS

In conclusion, we highly recommend a visit to Sebastian’s Bistro. We had it on our list for a while, but always found it hard to fit into our schedule. This past trip, we made it a point to take the Skyliner over to Disney’s Caribbean Beach so that we could finally experience it. Not only is the resort beautiful, but the food here is outstanding, and a real hidden gem. If you enjoy food with a Latin or Caribbean flair, make sure you take the time to visit Sebastian’s Bistro.
